As of now, I'm definitely going for a BQ, but a PB is out of the question. I suppose a lot rides on my health, my training, the shoes, and the weather! It's exciting that I have so many things to worry about! 🤣

@@srikalyanp Thanks so much! I’ll be ready to roll in 9 weeks! I’m not so sure I’m the type of runner/influencer Adidas is going to give a pair of Evo 1s to, and they’re a little out of my budget, but I’ll run in them if I get them. Realistically I have no idea which shoe I’ll be running in. I don’t have any Adidas race shoes at the moment, so we’ll see what I can get my hands on in the coming weeks. I’m so happy to be a part of the race that I’d run in the SL2s if they asked me to!

@@lironratzon56 this is a bit tricky because I don’t know what is wrong with your back. Do you like a firmer or softer ride? Do you need any stability features?

@@its_Matt_B_ I have a herniated disc in the L4 and L5 vertebrae - I am a former athlete, I know how to listen to my body, I no longer have pain and I feel that I can start training again, of course in a moderate way. But I need the best shoe for this goal

@@lironratzon56 Sorry to hear it! I had a herniated disc at the same spot a few years ago and know it can be miserable! I think this One Mix shoe will be a bit too firm.

@@lironratzon56 Ultimately, buying a running shoe is a very individual thing, because the most important aspect is comfort. If you're looking for a soft(ish) daily trainer, I recommend something like the Hoka Clifton or Puma Magnify Nitro 2.

It’s funny how my perception has swung from plated shoes being the best and novel fast running option to non-plated fast shoes being the more exciting thing. It’s like anyone can put a plate in a shoe and make it feel fast, but to do it without a plate is impressive.

@@its_Matt_B_ That's great to hear because I try to avoid plated shoes for training. I want to feel that I'm doing the work rather than the shoe.

@@i.p2088 The Specter 2 has the potential to bring a lot more people to Topo! This shoe brings a lot to the table.

It'll probably be a week or so before my review gets posted, but i'll tell you I noticed no issues with the midfoot. It fit and locked down well. I did notice the toe box was a little narrow.

Not really. There are a lot of shoes that can do it all, but that doesn't necessarily mean they feel the same. I haven't run in the SB2 yet, but the original SB is firmer than the DN3 and the DN3 is plated so has a bit more "snap" than the SB. The SB shines because it is so light!

They have the ability to tie a runner's knot because they have that upper hole, however, the laces are a bit short so may need to be replaced.

Up until 2 years ago I think Salomon was way behind with their road-running lineup. They do a pretty good job now, however the foam is fairly firm. A firm run doesn't mean much as long as you like the feel.

I don't run in them too much anymore, because I have so many shoes to review all the time, but I still wear these everyday for work. They are holding up very well and are still really comfortable!

🤣 This is a funny question because to me it feels like they're at opposite ends of the spectrum. That may not be technically true, but the ride is significantly firmer in the AG2 than in the 1080v13.

It's cool at night because from here we can see the fire from the thrusters. In the daytime it looks like a cloud line being drawn in the sky. I'd love to see one up close!

Did you have a problem with sizing and they didn't let you return them? Who is getting free shoes?

Hi! I only get to test running shoes, but if you're a fan of Nike, I would recommend the Pegasus. Look for older models and you will find some really good prices!

@@its_Matt_B_ thank you. Yeah brand doesn’t matter and I think the air huarache is a running shoe. Could be wrong on that one. Would it be good to have the same cushioning in both activities? Just subscribed. Thank you again.

@@bthe1ulove876 The main thing to look for is a model that is a year or more older. Running shoes are so expensive when they're released. As far as softness goes, it all comes down to personal preference! I can tolerate firmer shoes when walking that I can while running, I imagine because the impact is less.

Today was my first run and they feel as good as they look!

What's a Hoka fake wide? Not wide enough?

The insole is the same as the normal width but they add volume to the upper. Somtime the also size down so you actually just get a half size up when ordering so making it feel wider but it's then usually long.. Only Hoka seem to do it..

People with flat feet have different needs, so it's tricky to just say yes or no on them being flat-foot-friendly. The insert is removable, so can be replaced with something that works for you if the one that comes with it doesn't. The shoe is fairly flexible and the toe box has an average width.

@@its_Matt_B_ fair answer, Is hard to find a proper stability shoe. The Asics gt 2160 from back the with the duomax was the sweet spot and is impossible finding something similar. Asics made the gt 2160 again but as a lifestyle shoe without the dual density foam so is categorized as a lifestyle shoe. Im willing to try the s1 tho

Come to think of it, there was the time when I did an interval workout on the North Carolina A&T State track while some of the Marching Aggies horn players were practicing in the grandstands. That felt pretty epic.

Old Sony Walkman headphones? You cannot be wearing what I think of when I hear that. Remember those old headphones from the very early Walkman with the thin sponge covers and the metal flat-wire band? Is that what you're using? You bring up a good point; It seems reasonable that music and running should be a bidirectional relationship. You're also right about the low-level exercise being when music helps the most, and I really like description of an easy workout being drudgery.

@@its_Matt_B_ These say "MDR-W08" on them, "vertical in-the-ear" headphones; no foam and the drivers go in sideways. They don't go boom-boom but I can hear the instruments in the mix clearly and listening to them doesn't tire my ears.

@@its_Matt_B_ Via the Ultrarunning History podcast, the six-day pedestrian races that were popular in the late 1800s typically featured live music from a brass band. The rules an event would include when each contestant got to request the tunes.

My full review of the Wave Sky 8 is scheduled for this Friday. If I had to choose I would go with the Mizuno Wave Sky 8. I have really been enjoying the midsole. The Nimbus 26 rides a little softer than the Wave Sky 8, but the Wave Sky 8 is not a firm ride. They're both premium daily trainers and are both very well made. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with either.
